Recap: Arbonne 30 Days to Healthy Living

FILED IN: Wellness

After some serious holiday, New Year, engagement, and all-around overindulgences, I found myself, like many, feeling sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I actually haven’t been legitimately sick (fingers crossed, knock on wood, praise the Lord), but that didn’t mean I wasn’t struggling with feelings of constant bloat & stomach pains, headaches, dehydration, persistent insomnia, reoccurring acne/breakouts, crazy sugar cravings, energy dips and mood swings, lack of motivation, and the ever-annoying squeezing into all of my clothes. Woof.

I knew it was time to get into action and make a change. I’ve never been one for Whole 30, as I favor more of a veggie, plant-based than meat-heavy diet. I also knew artificial/’diet’ anything was out, and I wanted to try getting off of:

  • gluten
  • dairy
  • …and even my favorite three: coffee, sugar, and wine/alcohol.

Yes, seriously. But before you stop reading, I didn’t think there was a chance I could do it either!!

I did plenty of research trying to find the best (for me) sort of cleanse/detox out there. After searching every corner of Google + social media, I was reacquainted with Arbonne and remembered why I fell in love with the company about a year or so ago.

Everything Arbonne makes is vegan, plant-based, botanically sourced, “pure, safe, and beneficial”. That applies to the nutrition, the skincare, and even the makeup.

The company’s ‘30 Days to Healthy Living‘ program (which is actually only 28 days, and also known as the Clean Eating Challenge or the Arbonne Detox) met all of my requirements and then some.

Arbonne 28 Day Detox

It was certainly a bit of an up-front investment, but at roughly $10 a day, I took the plunge and said a little prayer that it would be worth it.

Well, ‘worth it’ is an understatement.

For starters, no before and after picture can fully capture the way clean eating and dietary lifestyle changes can truly make you feel so much better from the inside out.

That’s what it’s all about.

What I loved about this program is that I was never hungry and I never felt deprived. I just felt like I was giving my body what it needed. These three factors were huge for me, especially as someone who underwent a period of restrictive eating. I knew I had to be fueling my body, mind & soul.

What I didn’t think was possible, became extremely enjoyable. I looked forward to my morning smoothies (which I always turned into a bowl with cleanse-approved toppings).

Lunch was either another shake/smoothie or a whole foods meal. Dinner was also a plate of lean, clean & green foods like chicken, quinoa or sweet potato, and lots of veggies. Snacks varied (think green apples with almond butter, carrots & hummus, mixed nuts, etc.).

Different parts of the cleanse kit are intentionally there to give you an alternative –

i.e: AM Coffee -> Detox Tea. // PM Coffee -> Fizz Sticks.

It’s all customizable based on whether you’re trying to lose, maintain, or gain; but a little shed is a natural part of ridding your body of those heavy-metals and deeply embedded toxins.

I woke up with more way more vibrancy and energy without coffee and a nighttime ritual of red wine.

Since I was eating so many plant-based, whole foods, my cravings quickly dissipated. The toughest week was Week 3, where you also drink the gentle ‘7 Day Body Cleanse’, for you guessed it – 7 days. It actually tastes pretty good at that point (as your body has reached a more alkaline vs. acidic state), but that’s just when I started having a few cravings. It was more so just the feeling of wanting to dine out and order what sounded good or was convenient versus what was detox approved.

With support from the Facebook group, my coach, and my fiancé, I stayed on track, only erring my last weekend when we traveled down to Charlotte for my Grandmother’s 89th birthday. Hey, when Grandma says eat, you eat! 😉

And  still, here’s my Day 1 and Day 28 before/after:

Mind you, this is just with dietary changes! I wasn’t able to get to the gym near as much as I’d of liked to. That will be my focus this month! I plan to slowly add back in certain foods, one category at a time, assessing how they make me feel. Ultimately it’s about reaching an 80/20 balance of the foods I love and that make me feel good. Because nothing tastes as good as it is to feel good!

I also believe life is meant to be lived, celebrated, and enjoyed with one another – and that quite often includes food. Even the ‘less healthful’ food at times. And that’s ok – heck, it’s more than ok!

At the end of the day, we eat to live, not the other way around!

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that:

Self-care ain’t selfish, and there are no finish lines. It’s about finding your lifestyle for the long haul.

I loved my experience and everything the company stands for so much that I decided to take it one step further by becoming an Independent Consultant. When you truly love and believe in something, you can’t help but want to share it.

If you’d like to learn more, or find out how you can sign up for yourself, get in touch, or send me an email to kaitlynhparker@gmail.com. I would love to help coach and encourage you through a Clean Eating Challenge of your own. A new Facebook support group starts next month and there’s room for y-o-u!

Prioritize your health. You’re worth it.
